Sierra Norte Single Barrel Yellow Label Mexican Whiskey is a unique and flavorful blend of 100% Blue Weber agave and Oaxacan black corn. The agave is grown in the Sierra Norte mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, and is hand-harvested and cooked in traditional stone ovens. The corn is grown in the same region and is hand-picked and milled using traditional methods. The whiskey is then aged in American oak barrels for a minimum of two years.
The result is a whiskey with a complex and flavorful profile. The aroma is rich and inviting, with notes of cooked agave, citrus, vanilla, and roasted corn. The taste is smooth and mellow with a hint of sweetness, followed by a spicy finish. The finish is long and lingering with a touch of smoke.
TASTING NOTES
Blue iris, dried chilies, and fresh linen; the corn is sweet and fat. Fresh and fruity, orange marmalade, honey oozing into maple syrup, developing more complexity as the smooth layers shift to accommodate the growing pepper and chili heat ahead of a spicy honey finish. For a 10 month old single cask whiskey, this is remarkably impressive.
