G.E. Massenez is a French producer of pear brandy, known for their exceptional poire Williams. It's clear how big the pears used in this eau-de-vie are by looking at the giant pearshaped barrels they age it in. Poire Williams retains the deep green color of skin and flesh of the Williams pears, has a lively expression with muscat notes, is presented halfway between wood and fruits. This velvety pear brandy is as rich and creamy as fresh pears. The distillers use only Williams pears (the largest of the pear types) that are picked at their peak of ripeness, and mellow them in oak casks for three to four months before distillation.
The Prisoner Pear is fascinating due to both its quality of taste and scent, and its pear-shaped bottle, encasing the pear inside.
The bottle is simply placed onto the pear tree when it is flowering... Then the fruit grows inside the bottle until it is ripe, when the fruit and the bottle are delicately picked from the tree.

Lingering, sharp, exuberant, with beautiful density.
