Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye is one of our most limited-production items, and it's also one of our most exciting. Our rye has a fruity aroma and a smokey finish, but what really makes it special is its nutty character: we've got tastes of hazelnut, almond, and even hints of Brazil nuts that come through on the palate. This is thanks to some truly unique characteristics: we use a higher percentage of rye in our mashbill than most other distilleries, and we also use ex-bourbon barrels instead of new oak barrels (like many other distilleries do). These two factors combine to create a uniquely smooth rye whiskey that takes you back in time to an era when people lived by their own rules—and made their own history.
