The Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky is a signature grain whisky. It was released in 2012, and is predominantly made from corn. This whisky gets its distinctive flavor and smoothness from being distilled in a Coffey still, which was originally invented in Scotland by Aeneas Coffey. Coffey stills are renowned for their ability to extract the full character of an ingredient during the distilling process. Predominantly made from corn, Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky is matured in old casks such as re-filled re-made and re-charred casks originally made from American oak to deliver the sweet mellow flavors of Coffey distillates.
Nikka Coffey Grain is a blend of Japanese single malt grain whisky aged in American oak with hints of chocolate and peppermint. The sweetness in the mouth slowly dissolves into rich caramel and vanilla, finishing with a hint of red berries.
