Ardbeg Ardcore is a limited edition whisky that takes pride in its wild and ashy nature, with a whisky that’s all about what happens upfront. The malt is what defines its distinctive profile. Described as tasting like ‘biting on a spiky ball’, Ardcore is a dram that wears its heart on its sleeve…its black heart!
Created with ingredients new to the Islay distillery – namely roasted black malt. This whisky, full of smoky flavors, is bottled at a higher strength than usual and delivers an intense experience that those with an insatiable appetite for everything Ardbeg will love.
TASTING NOTES
COLOR
Pale Straw.
NOSE
Fresh, floral, herbal & tart. Hints of mixed herbs and cedar wood. Very zesty, vibrant, hints of smoked orange & grapefruit, lots of menthol & peppermint. With water, powerful bursts of diesel oil, tar, fresh paint and aniseed. As this dies down, a memory of freshly cut hay, a touch of silage and the tiniest hint of something savoury, like yeast extract or bread dough.
TASTE
A lively, vibrant, sharp, ‘zingy’ texture, leading into very firm, distinctive flavours – malty/biscuit tones, powerful aniseed, cardamon, antiseptic lozenge, sweet mint toffee and cigar ash.
FINISH
Finally, a lingering, salty, firm aftertaste of mint, tar, oak tannin & leather.
